Career History

 

Starting out as a word processor, I worked for AT&T for fifteen years.  I moved up to various roles including administrative support, project management, business and system analysis, client interface, and technical writing.  The technical skills and business acumen I gained as a corporate employee proved invaluable to me in efficiently operating my own family childcare services business for fourteen years.  I have had the privilege of providing childcare services to numerous children, along with raising my own children.  I am humbled by and grateful for the absolute trust and confidence bestowed on me by both parents and the children under my care.  Owning and operating a business has also enhanced my skills in the areas of client relationships, marketing, contract and policy formation, program development, process development and management.

 

In seeking a career that would compliment my Computer Science and Math education, I discovered Instructional Design. My skills in project management, technical writing, client relations, business analysis, and IT background and experience along with my natural tendency towards orderliness, organization, pragmatism, and planning makes Instructional Design and Project Management the best career fit for me.  Currently, I am the Online Learning Specialist at Essex County College in New Jersey. Education

 

I have a degree from Walden University in M.S. in Instructional Design & Technology (MSIDT) specializing in Online Learning.  I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Mathematics from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  I have completed a Master’s Certificate program in Project Management through Villanova University, as well as earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) credential through the Project Management Institute.

Interests

 

Outside of my career, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exercising, reading and hosting a monthly book club meetings, learning Arabic, cooking, music, and gathering with family and friends.  I love planning and organizing events.  For the last ten years, I have organized my international high school reunion.  I also organize my family’s annual reunion, an exciting event, in which my project management skills have become indispensable.
